Delete Your Account
1. Delete your account in the app
- Open the Family Sentinel app and sign in.
- Go to Settings and tap Delete my account.
- Confirm. Your account is now scheduled for deletion in 7 days — this grace period exists so a deletion started by mistake, or under pressure, can be undone.
- To cancel during those 7 days, go back to Settings and tap Keep my account. This is the only way to cancel a pending deletion.
If the 7 days pass without cancelling, the account and the data below are deleted automatically — deletion is not instant at the moment you tap the button; it happens at the end of the grace period.
2. Can't sign in? Delete by email
If you can't access the app or sign in, email support@familysentinel.org from the address on the account (or tell us which account, if you no longer have access to that inbox) and ask us to delete it. We'll verify it's really you before acting, then delete the account the same way described above.
3. What gets deleted
When a deletion completes — whether started in the app or by email — we delete, within 7 days of the grace period ending:
- The account itself and your sign-in access.
- Every device registered to sign in on the account.
- Stored scam checks you ran and their attachments.
- Guardianships connecting your account to others, in either direction.
- Support tickets and their messages.
- Organization memberships tied to the account's email.
4. What is handled separately — the monitored mailbox and billing
The email account we monitor for fraud, and your billing record, are not removed by an app account deletion. They're tied to your paid monitoring subscription, not to the app sign-in, and are removed through billing or by asking support to cancel: email support@familysentinel.org. Monitoring data for that mailbox is retained only while a paid subscription for it stays active; deleting the app account alone does not touch it.
5. Retention after deletion
Deleted data is removed from our production systems within 7 days of the grace period ending. Backups age out within 30 days thereafter. Records we're legally required to keep (for example for tax, security, or fraud-prevention reasons) are retained only for the period the law requires, then deleted — see our Privacy Policy for how we handle data generally.
Crash diagnostics already sent to our error-tracking system before deletion are not individually retrievable or deletable by account, because they carry no email address or other identifier tied back to you.
6. Questions
